Open source electronics for education

Open source hardware has many potential applications in the laboratory, the classroom, and beyond. We have developed a lab kit platform that enables students to use low-cost, course specific hardware to complete lab exercises remotely. This platform is currently being used in a course that teaches the science and technology of modern display systems, and we are developing new hardware and new exercises for more courses. We are also working to extend open-source hardware to the device level by developing fabrication processes that enable the creation of custom sensors and displays using readily accessible materials and inexpensive equipment.
